HomeAdvisor or Angi leads can be worth buying when the jobs you win leave enough contribution after lead charges and follow-up work. First identify your current product and billing model. A pay-per-lead account, an annual subscription and a manually accepted Opportunity do not create the same financial exposure.

Xomer sells websites, one of the alternatives to buying leads. We read Angi’s public documents on October 2, 2026.

Match the HomeAdvisor name to the agreement you accepted

HomeAdvisor’s consumer site remains available. Angi’s published Angi Pro Agreement, version 1.4, effective May 12, 2026 names HomeAdvisor Inc. doing business as Angi Pro and includes requests from homeadvisor.com among possible lead sources. It says your onboarding contract controls conflicts. The legal center marked that version current when we checked; your accepted order still determines your account’s terms.

Find the agreement title, entity, version and order in your acceptance email or account. Separate older Angi Ads or Angi Leads paperwork from your current Angi Pro purchase. Angi’s consumer pre-priced booking service is also different from buying a customer inquiry. Match invoice lines to what you actually purchased.

What triggers charges, and what a budget covers

The cited Pro agreement describes subscriptions, per-lead payments and bundles. Leads can go to several professionals; a charge does not depend on winning the job. Confirm your task categories, ZIP codes, prices and competition rules in the current order. There is no single public price suitable for every trade or market.

Angi’s August 14, 2026 budget guidance says automatic matches use your monthly budget, which resets on your approval-date cycle. Requests you manually accept or show interest in through Opportunities are billed in addition. Annual subscribers must contact support to adjust their budget. Confirm all charges and account-specific limits before treating the displayed budget as your total spending cap.

A lead credit is not a refund for losing a quote

Under Angi’s August 14, 2026 lead-credit policy, eligible problems include invalid phone details, a request outside your configured area or tasks, duplicate charges within 45 days, and a lead charged while paused. Approval requires investigation. The request must concern a lead less than 45 days old, with an attempted call within 24 hours, and an account in good standing.

Unanswered calls, another pro winning, a homeowner shopping quotes or a project not proceeding are not eligible reasons. Annual subscriptions do not receive lead credits under this policy. Approved credits apply to future lead charges and expire after six months. Save the request and decision; do not budget an unapproved credit as cash returned.

Pausing leads and ending an agreement are separate actions

Angi’s current cancellation help directs pros to Customer Care at 877-947-3639. It describes lead pauses of up to two weeks; Opportunities-only accounts instead stop accepting Opportunities. The Pro agreement describes automatic renewal, no refund of the current subscription term when canceled, and possible early-termination fees determined by the order. Pausing doesn’t cancel the agreement or refund the subscription.

Ask for the effective cancellation date, renewal status, final charges and confirmation number in writing. Product, contract generation and local law can affect the answer. Old regulator cases and homeowner cancellation guides won’t tell you how your contractor agreement ends; your order will.

Run the numbers on completed work

For a hypothetical test, assume $900 in lead charges, $100 in allocated subscription fees and $200 in follow-up labor. Total acquisition cost is $1,200. Twenty inquiries produce twelve qualified opportunities and four jobs that are completed and paid. That is $60 per inquiry, $100 per qualified opportunity and $300 per acquired job.

If those jobs collect $8,000 and incur $5,000 in direct labor, materials and other job costs, they produce $3,000 before acquisition costs. Subtract $1,200 and $1,800 remains toward overhead and profit. At only two similar jobs, $1,500 before acquisition costs leaves $300. These are example numbers, not Angi prices or typical close rates.

Choose a test your schedule can support

Set a loss limit, an end date and responsibility for responding before turning leads on. Track request date, charge, task, location, contact attempts, fit, estimate, outcome, collected revenue and direct costs. Count repeat contacts once. Review unsuitable requests promptly within the policy window.

If good inquiries arrive but no one answers, fix response coverage. If the tasks or ZIP codes are wrong, fix preferences and raise eligible credit requests. If qualified quotes lose on price, inspect job scope and competitiveness. If you are already full, more inquiries can waste money.

Compare the same total-cost and job-contribution measures with referrals, advertising and website inquiries, while respecting each channel’s billing and timing. An organic caller may also shop around, and a website has its own costs. Keep the channel when your observed economics and available capacity support it; reduce or stop it through the applicable agreement when they do not.

Compare Angi and Thumbtack using the same qualified-inquiry and booked-job definitions, while checking each product’s charges separately.

If your public website misstates the work you accept or where you operate, request a free written website and AI visibility audit. The audit reads your pages, your business listings and what Google and AI assistants say about you, then tells you what to fix first. Existing-site implementation is scoped separately.
